Saltillo & El Tunol, Mexico
"Mission Mexico"
So, you saw my vision to go to Mexico (if you read one of my blogs). My first 3 years was in the areas of Saltillo, El Tunol, and Progresso. When I knew that Mexico was happening, I began to learn a song in Spanish, "Jesus Loves Me," and when I arrived at the Baptist Church in El Tunol the first song they sang was "Jesus Loves Me", which was another confirmation that I was on the right path set forth by God.
Someone who does not know Spanish and hearing an entire service in Espanol was something I have never experienced. I did experience a bi-lingual service in Pharr, TX, but never full Spanish. The first year, I had a translator named Ms. Becky, who sat beside me and tried to keep me updated on the message. It was an experience that has motivated me to learn Spanish, but now 5 years later, I find that I have a hard time learning through Apps. I know I am the person that needs an in-person teacher, which is hard to find in Somerset County, PA. I am proud of myself though that I can understand most of a conversation through key words, but still not fluent at speaking.
Well, now that I have babbled on, now let's get to what has happened in Saltillo and El Tunol. The first church we went to be a Baptist Church on the mountain and when I saw and got to know the family, my heart instantly began wondering what I can do to help these children succeed. I began to learn that schooling is not free and that most students stop in 6th grade due to finances because the large family has another child that needs to begin school. So, I asked if a school that would be free would be possible. Later in the trip, I found that it would be possible, and my prayer is still to education children for free in Mexico!
Second, we attended Concordia Iglesia, it was a large church, even by American Standards, and it was the first place I got to speak to the church in Mexico. God was moving in a very prophetic way, and began to speak to people in the church, that then led to an altar call that lasted for hours. I remember, Ms. Becky following me to pray for many and God led me to this one young lady. God began to reveal to her about her suicide attempts and how she has felt worthless, but God came to tell her that she is "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made". God came to set her free from the depression and spirits that haunted her. That day she was delivered from Suicide and was set free by the Holy Spirit. There was also a boy who we prayed for that could not walk, and God healed him that in church he was dancing and running, and later we found was playing soccer on a team. God did so many great things.
The second year, God called to start a church in Saltillo with some of the people from the Concordia Church who felt sent to start a church. That church started in their house and has grown into a spirit filled church that reaches those that are lost and hopeless. It is called, "New Hope House of Prayer". Pastor Eron and Eli and their children are powerful. What is even more powerful is that the children participate in the services. I remember then praying for their dad and the power of God hit so hard that their father hit his knees.
Got sent me there for 3 years to complete a work, and once it was complete, he sent me to a new place called Chihuahua, Mexico. There a new chapter begins... (Understand that nothing is ever complete, so these areas still need support and help, but thanks to a team, they are able to maintain and help with needs that arise)
